Despite ongoing protests against the crackdown, the Kathmandu metropolitan city government says it has taken action against 581 street vendors in the city.
In the first six months of the current fiscal year (mid-July 2022-mid-January 2023), the city police personnel took action against them, informs the police chief Raju Nath Pandey.
Pandey says the police also fined 7,735 motorcyclists for parking their vehicles on pedestrian pavements and other unauthorised places.
In these six months, the local government of the capital city removed 9,885 illegal signboards, destroyed 32 structures encroaching on public property and brought 52 basement parking facilities into operation.
