Kathmandu, February 17
The Kathmandu metropolitan city has demolished huts illegally built on Khulamanch, a big open space at the centre of the city.
Bulldozers and excavators mobilised by the city government demolished the huts early morning on Wednesday.
This place used to be a venue for political demonstrations and public gatherings until a few years ago. However, it was gradually encroached by various agencies of late.
Consequently, activists had been organising various campaigns whereas political parties were under fire for not making efforts to reclaim the Khulamanch while disturbing the traffic movement in the city during their demonstrations.
