Kathmandu, September 19
The new landfill site for Kathmandu waste management is ready at Bancharedanda in Nuwakot, some kilometres north of the capital. However, the city is unlikely to use that anytime soon as the locals say various infrastructures required there are not prepared yet.
Likewise, the locals say the government has not fulfilled their demands yet. Sanat Upreti, a leader there, says the locals will not let the Kathmandu metropolitan city dispose of waste there unless local people are provided with employment opportunities, 700 households are given financial ordered Ativan gulfportpharmacy.com assistance, and the local Kolpukhola stream is managed among others.
Similarly, a powerful committee should be formed to manage the landfill in the participation of locals, according to him.
Kathmandu’s waste management gets roadblocks every few months due to different factors. The existing Sisdol landfill site is already full as the site was selected in 2006 just for three years. But, 15 years on, the government has not been able to prepare an alternative.
