The Leapfrog Hackathon 2025, themed “Impact through Intelligence with AWS”, concluded recently, marking a successful week-long showcase of innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge AI solutions. The event challenged participants to harness the power of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop impactful, real-world applications using artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
The six-day-long event drew 87 initial registrations, from which 60 participants were selected to form 10 teams. Throughout the week, these teams designed and developed a range of proof-of-concept projects and open-source tools, tackling challenges across healthcare, HR, fintech, and more.
Award-Winning Innovations
- Winner: φolice
The top prize went to φolice, an AI-driven platform that safeguards against accidental exposure of Protected Health Information (PHI) during software development. Powered by a custom Natural Language Processing (NLP) model via AWS SageMaker, the tool seamlessly integrates with developers’ workflows—flagging and preventing PHI leaks across code editors, version control systems, and browsers. This real-time compliance solution addresses critical legal and reputational risks in healthcare technology. Runner-up: Elev8AI
Elev8AI reimagines promotion evaluations with an AI-enhanced Growth Assessment Program (GAP). By mapping documents to a competency matrix and generating objective scores, the platform streamlines assessments while ensuring fairness and transparency. It also offers a conversational AI feature using AWS Bedrock, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, and Lambda for querying insights directly from assessment data.AWS Innovator Award: Loan Genie
Loan Genie received the AWS Innovator Award for simplifying home loan processes for Australian expatriates. The platform automates documentation, calculations, and direct submissions to banks—eliminating the need for costly intermediaries. Built with AWS Bedrock, Textract, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, and S3, the solution provides a faster, user-friendly, and more affordable lending experience.
