Man killed in fatal bus collision in Makwanpur

Makwanpur, March 28

A 30-year-old man lost his life in a road accident in Lothar Bazaar, Manahari Rural Municipality-6, Makwanpur, after a bus and a van collided along the East-West Highway early Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sandesh Koirala, a resident of Raksirang-4, who was driving the magic van.

The accident occurred at around 3:15 AM, when a bus (Bagmati Province 03-006-Kha-5681) traveling from Chitwan to Hetauda collided with a van (Bagmati Province 001-Ch-3012) heading in the opposite direction.

Koirala was rushed to Bharatpur’s New Medical College, where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 AM during treatment, according to Makwanpur police.

Authorities have detained the bus and its driver for investigation.

Following the incident, local residents blocked the highway in protest, demanding stricter road safety measures. The road has since been cleared, and traffic has resumed.
