Gaurika Singh wins third gold medal in this edition of SAG
Nepal’s swimming sensation Gaurika Singh has won another gold medal in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games in Kathmandu on Sunday. It is her third gold medal in this edition of the regional sports event. Singh completed the 400-metre freestyle race in four minutes and 25.28 seconds to win the medal.
She is the first Nepali athlete who has won three gold medals in a single edition of the SAG.
Meanwhile, Devika Khadka of judo also won a gold medal for Nepal yesterday. So far, Nepal has won 45 gold medals in the ongoing event.
Nepal reach final of SAG men’s football
Amidst a strong supporting crowd, Nepali men footballers defeated Bangladesh 1-0 in their last group-stage match played under the 13th South Asian Games on Sunday. Now, Nepal will face Bhutan in the final match of the tournament being played in the round-robin format.
For Nepal, Sunil Bal scored the decisive goal in the 11th minute yesterday.
The final match will take place on Monday. As the defending champions, the Nepali team are looking forward to the gold medal from the match.

NHRC complains of lack of govt’s cooperation
Submitting its annual report to the President, the National Human Rights Commission has complained that it could not receive expected support from the government. During the meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday, the NHRC chair Anup Raj Sharma said the government introduced a bill to curtail the independence and freedom of the constitutional body whereas it also did not help the commission execute its new organisational structure as per the new federal structure of the country.
The commission reiterated that the government repeatedly ignored its recommendations regarding various cases and issues.
US provides two Skytrucks to Nepal
After more than four and a half years of the devastating earthquake in Nepal in April 2019, the United States government had announced that it would provide four Skytruck aircraft to the Nepal Army so that it can carry out rescue operations more effectively. Of them, two arrived in Kathmandu recently, informs the national military force. The US will provide two other aircraft within the next three years.
Minister warns of action against non-performing contractors
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang has warned of taking action against the contractors who leave their assignments in limbo without completing them on time. Speaking with journalists in Butwal of Rupandehi district on Sunday, the minister said his ministry of committed to completing all infrastructure development projects on time.
He also said that the government had considered the incomplete status of the Bhairahawa-Lumbini road improvement project seriously.

Exam rigging case against TU official
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a corruption case at the Special Court against an account officer at the Examination Controller’s Office of Tribhuvan University, Kamal Prasad Dahal, claiming he exchanged two students’ answer sheets to make his favoured one pass with good grades.
Along with Dahal, the administrative assistant at Gaighat-based Triyuga Janata Multiple Campus, Tej Narayan Chaudhary, also faces the charge.
