For the first time in history, Kathmandu is currently hosting an electric vehicle-only exhibition. NADA EV Expo 2022 is happening right now at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall.
The event that started on September 22 (Thursday) will be held till September 25 (Sunday). NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal is the organiser of the event that had been organising an auto expo every year for more than two decades. But, this is the first time, the exhibitors are focused on EVs with the support from Nepal Electricity Authority.
Aimed at publicising and promoting electric vehicles and their use in the country, NADA EV Expo 2022 is showcasing nine brands of four-wheelers, 16 brands of two-wheelers, one brand of the three-wheelers, three brands of tyres, two brands of batteries, nine companies producing parts of garage equipment, auto magazines and four financial institutions. The expo showcases the electric vehicles as well as a few new companies that will be operating soon on the market.
Here are some of the things you can look forward to at the NADA EV Expo 2022.
1. Tesla
When it comes to EVs, Tesla definitely pops up in everyone’s mind. Over the years, Tesla has established itself as one of the major players in the automobile business and has a global presence. At the NADA EV Expo 2022, you will have the chance to know more about two models from the company. The company has placed Tesla Model 3 and Model Y on the display.
2. Hyundai Ioniq 5
Along with Tesla, Hyundai Ioniq 5 is definitely the best car at the NADA EV Expo 2022. Awarded with the titles of 2022 World Car of the Year, 2022 World Electric Vehicle of the Year and 2022 World Car Design of the Year, this premium EV is definitely worth your time. You can check the design, interiors and features yourself at the expo and figure out why it was awarded so many titles.
3. Thee-Go JAC
Thee-Go Jac is the first electric pick-up truck in Nepal. Thee-Go also has a mini-van and many other EVs in Nepal. The huge presence of the JAC cannot be unnoticed at the expo. The launch of this vehicle in Nepal paves the pathway for other companies to join Thee-Go in competing against traditional fuel-based vehicles. With tons of premium features on board, Thee-Go JAC is sure to get your attention.
4. Ola
Ola is one of the most popular electric two-wheelers in India. Since Nepal and India have a similar markets, the reputed brand is now available in Nepal as well. Through the partnership with CG Motors, Ola has brought two electric scooters, S1 and S1 Pro to Nepal. Since this is one of the reputed electric scooters in the Indian market, it would be interesting to see how it fares here.
5. Joy e-bike
Joy e-bike is an India-manufactured electric two-wheeler. The company is offering both electric scooters and electric bikes in Nepal for the first time. This can be interesting to those who are seeking an electric bike and not a scooter. Although the company is offering electric scooters as well, the three electric bikes will be the ones to get your attention. It is offering bikes in both naked and sporty designs. The bikes also offer a decent build quality and the features are satisfactory as well. The pricing of the bikes also seems reasonable.
6. Mahindra Treo Zor
Mahindra Treo Zor is the only three-wheeler electric vehicle at the NADA EV Expo 2022. Treo Zor offers a certified range of 125 km on a single charge and can achieve a top speed of 50 kmph. Designed for the cargo segment, this can be a good option for the city areas. It has features like IP67 rated motor, large tyres, a large windscreen and has can carry up to 550 kg of load which is impressive for a three-wheeler.
