Kathmandu, March 19
Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire has issued an apology for his remarks made during a House of Representatives (HoR) session on March 16.
Speaking during the ’emergency time’ session in Parliament today, Ghimire acknowledged that he had reflected on his comments, in which he had suggested legalising sex work in Nepal.
He clarified that his statement was his personal opinion and did not represent the official stance of the Nepali Congress.
“I apologise for my remarks, realising that they have hurt the sentiments of parliament members and the public,” he said.
