Nepal Covid-19 tally: 3,175 new cases, 8,723 recoveries, 14 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 3

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,095,063 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 3,175 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,026 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 2,742 returned positive. Likewise, 2,579 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 433 tested positive.

Of total tests, 27.34 per cent of the PCR and 16.78 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 25.18 per cent.

As of today, there are 63,296 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,434 are hospitalised, 281 in intensive care units and 59 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 8,723 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 14 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 887,443 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,778 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 92.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, 266,540 people were vaccinated today.
