Kathmandu, January 31
The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,082,668 as of Monday afternoon.
The ministry said 5,292 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.
In this period, 10,368 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 3,472 returned positive. Likewise, 5,720 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 1,820 tested positive.
Of total tests, 33.48 per cent of the PCR and 31.81 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 32.89 per cent.
As of today, there are 79,272 active cases across the country.
In the past 24 hours, 8,191 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 8 deaths today.
Of the total cases so far, 862,898 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,743 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, 366,603 people were vaccinated today.
