Kathmandu, June 5
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre President Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ have discussed the possibility of forming a national consensus government. Prachanda had reached PM’s Official Residence in Baluwatar on Sunday for the talks.
Prachanda’s Private Secretariat informed that the two leaders discussed the gentleman’s agreement (reached between CPN-UML and then UCPN-Maoist leadership) as well as the formation of a unity government.
The Maoist party has been asking Oli to make way for the formation of a consensus government, as per the spirit of the gentleman’s deal. Senior UML leaders like Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Nepal have been pressing Oli for the formation of such a government. On his part, PM Oli has been denying the existence of a power transfer deal.
The Oli government’s activities are also said to have figured in Sunday’s discussion between the two leaders.
