On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Prachanda lauded martyrs for their contribution to the country and the people.
President Bhandari paid rich tributes to martyrs and recalled their roles in different political movements in Nepal.
After promulgation of the Constitution through the Constituent Assembly, martyrs’ dreams are gradually coming true, Bhandari said. She called on all Nepali peoples to work together for economic development of the country.
Prime Minister Prachanda, in his message, expressed hope that this day will inspire all concerned to work together for peace, development and progress.

Martyrs have played an important role in making Nepal’s political movements succssful, he said, adding that all political parties should stand together for safeguarding political achievements of these movements. He expressed confidence that martyrs’ dreams and contributions will inspire us all to institutionalise the federal democratic republic and make the country prosperous through the implementation of the new Constitution.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to martyrs and added: Contributions of martyrs, who laid their lives during the movements against autocracy, will always be memorable.
