Kathmandu, December 22

Nepal has reported the first death of a child from the ‘multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children’ (MIS-C) that is believed to be induced by Covid-19.

A 13-year-old boy died of the condition at Kanti Children’s Hospital in Kathmandu recently and it could be the first of such case in the country, according to the hospital’s director, Dr Krishna Prasad Paudel.

This condition is peculiar to children aged 2 to 13.

The hospital had admitted the child after experiencing difficulties in breathing whereas his heart had been unable to work properly.

Other five children admitted to the hospital also had been experiencing these conditions. One is still undergoing treatment whereas three others have already been discharged.

Those suffering from the MIS-C experience fever, red eyes and tongue, diarrhoea, headache, and skin bumps.
