Kathmandu, March 4
At the Nepali Congress’ 13th general convention, the three candidates contesting for the position of treasurer have (at least) one thing in common: They all are from Madhesh.
Sher Bahadur Deuba’s panel has fielded Chitra Lekha Yadav for the position. Yadav, also former deputy Speaker of the Parliament, currently holds the same position.
Ramchandra Poudel’s panel has fielded Sita Devi Yadav for the position. Yadav is a Member of Parliament representing Siraha district. Team Poudel took pretty long to announce its candidate for the position, fielding Yadav only after selecting the candidates for the positions of party President and General Secretary. At last, the panel agreed on Sita Devi’s name for the position.
Krishna Sitaula’s panel has fielded Uma Kanta Chaudhary for the position. Chaudhary is a former Member of Parliament from Bara district. He has worked in different capacities in the Nepal Students’ Union and Tarun Dal.
