The French National Police in collaboration with the French Embassy in Kathmandu organised training for Nepal Police officers on investigation techniques to combat child sexual exploitation on March 14–18 at the Nepal Police Academy in Maharajgunj.

The training focused on different investigation techniques such as methods of interview (victim and offender), searches, dedicated forensic researches and cyber investigation.

Twenty NP officers benefited from this training.

The closing ceremony was held on Friday, March 18.  French Ambassador Yves Carmona handed out the certificates of completion in the presence of NP’s Acting Chief and Executive Director of Nepal Police Academy, Additional Inspector General Surendra Bahadur Shah, French Police Attaché Fabrice Grossir, and Deputy Inspector General Sudip Acharya.  Also present was the specialised investigator and instructor from France, Sebastien Wong.

On the occasion, French Ambassador to Nepal Carmona said: “This is a first training organized by the French Embassy and the French Interior Ministry along with Nepal Police to combat sexual exploitation of children.  This confirms our commitment to a common concern, protection of our children, and our mutual will to strengthen our bilateral police cooperation to achieve that goal.”

Acting Chief of Nepal Police, AIGP Shah thanked the French government and appreciated the efforts of the instructors.  He remarked, “It was an important step for capacity building.”
