Kathmandu, December 3
The government has barred people, both Nepalis and foreigners, from travelling from and via nine countries where the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has spread.
Whereas the government had already imposed a bar on the travel of people from South Africa, a cabinet meeting held on Monday also decided not to let people coming from and via South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi and Hong Kong also.
A minister informs the ban will come into effect from Friday midnight. People coming to Nepal from and via those countries before that will have to quarantine themselves.
Likewise, the government says it will not provide on-arrival visas to the people coming from the countries that are at risk.
