A serious question has been raised in the parliamentary committee about the three candidates shortlisted for Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellorship. The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives has drawn the serious attention of the recommendation committee to reconsider them.
The recommendation committee headed by Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai shortlisted 14 out of 43 people who applied for the post of Vice-Chancellor. Among them, questions have been raised about acting Vice-Chancellor Shiv Lal Bhusal, former Vice-Chancellor Tirtha Raj Khaniya and former Vice-Chancellor Keshar Jung Baral of Pokhara.
In the Education Committee on February 12, MPs also questioned why those with serious allegations were kept on the list.
The Education and Health Committee, on the other hand, has drawn attention to reconsidering Khaniya, who was accused of intellectual theft, Baral, who was accused of financial manipulation, and Bhusal, who was fined by the Information Commission.
Also, the Ministry of Education has been instructed to conduct necessary investigations on the appointments made by acting vice chancellor Bhusal to various posts in Tribhuvan University.
