Nepal is playing against the Netherlands in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 today. The match begins at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas, USA.
A tough competition is expected between these top associate teams. So far, Nepal and the Netherlands have played 12 T20I matches. In the head-to-head record, Nepal has won 5 matches, lost 6, and 1 match ended with no result. This is the first time Nepal and the Netherlands are meeting in the T20 World Cup.
In July 2015, Nepal toured the Netherlands for a four-match T20I series. Nepal lost the first match by 18 runs and the second match by 103 runs, where Nepal was all out for 69 while chasing a target of 173. Nepal also lost the third match by 18 runs.
However, Nepal won the fourth match by 3 wickets. In that match, Nepal chased the target of 140 runs in 19.4 overs with Paras Khadka scoring a half-century.
In 2018, Nepal and the Netherlands played at Lord’s in England. The match was abandoned due to rain when the Netherlands was at 174-4 in 16.4 overs.
In 2019, Nepal defeated the Netherlands by 4 wickets in a five-nation series held in Oman.
In 2021, during a triangular series on home ground, Nepal won the first match against the Netherlands by 9 wickets. In the second match, Nepal lost to the Netherlands by 3 wickets. The Netherlands chased Nepal’s target of 207 runs in 19.3 overs with Bas de Leede contributing 81 runs.
In the final of that triangular series, the Netherlands, chasing Nepal’s target of 239 runs, were all out for 96 runs in 17.2 overs.
In March 2024, a triangular series featuring Nepal, Namibia, and the Netherlands was held at TU ground. In the first match, the Netherlands scored 184 runs and won by 2 runs against Nepal. In the second match, Nepal bowled out the Netherlands for 120 runs and won by 6 wickets. In the final, the Netherlands chased Nepal’s target of 185 runs in 19.3 overs with 6 wickets down.
