Kathmandu, September 29
The Department of Standards and Metrology has suspended the permit issued to Banke-based Bageshwori and Jaya Mangalam Cement Industries.
The department had collected samples of cement from the market and barred the two industries from distributing/selling their cement products.
Bishwo Babu Pudasaini, director-general at the department, said a board meeting decided to suspend the permit after concluding that the two industries were selling substandard cement to the consumers.
Bageshwori Cement was selling PPC Bajra Shakti Cement, Trishakti Super and JBC Cement, whereas Jaya Mangalam was selling PPC Yeti, JMCS Rock Strong and Gaurab brand cement.
