Kathmandu, February 7
The Bagmati Province, in collaboration with the federal government, is gearing up to regulate ride-sharing services.
The provincial government has initiated the process of regulating ride-sharing services offered by private vehicles by formulating procedures through the relevant ministry. To implement this, the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Transport of Bagmati Province commenced discussions in October 2023.
“We started writing the draft of the procedure for regulating the ride-sharing services in October,” Ministry Secretary Balram Niraula told Onlinekhabar. “We also discussed sitting down with stakeholders and service providers in November 2023. The draft has reached its final stage.”
He mentioned that once the final discussions are concluded, the proposal will be forwarded to the provincial Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Law for approval.
“Upon receiving approval from both ministries, the procedure will be submitted to the provincial cabinet. Following approval and publication in the National Gazette, the regulatory process will commence,” he stated.
The fee will be set by the provincial government.
