Marking the 8th anniversary of the Shivata Love Foundation, the art exhibition titled ‘Shivata 30’ officially opened on Tuesday at the Nepal Art Council, Babermahal. The exhibition was inaugurated by the foundation’s founder and chairperson, Rajani Upadhyay, who is also Nepal’s first female vice-chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.

The foundation was established in 2015 in memory of Upadhyaya’s daughter, Shivata, who passed away in 2014 due to meningitis. Shivata’s dream of helping underprivileged children gain access to education inspired the foundation’s creation. Since then, the Shivata Love Foundation has supported the education of impoverished and marginalised children and contributed to disaster relief and various social initiatives across the country.

The exhibition, organised to honour Shivata’s legacy, aims to inspire and promote emerging Nepali artists. Rajani Upadhyaya stated that this platform provides not only tribute to Shivata’s memory but also encouragement for today’s youth and children. She expressed that this exhibition was a way to continue the positive work envisioned through the foundation.

A panel discussion also accompanied the event, focusing on the foundation’s educational and social contributions over the years.

The exhibition features the work of several established and emerging artists, including Aman Nepali, Arjun Basnet, Arjun Bhujel, Aman Rouniyar, Anjali Tamang, Bidur Paudel, Binaya Risal, Chhiring Dukpa Vist, Devis Maharjan, Deepika Rai, Joheda Nakarmi, Karima Joshi, Bajan Kumari, Kanchan Mehat, Khristina Dongol, Nita Parajuli, Nira Siddiqui, Niroj Maharjan, Pralhad Maharjan, Pratik Manandhar, Pushottam Thakali, Pratima Khadka, Ranjit Kunwar, Ronish Shrestha, Smriti Shrestha, Sagar Rawal, Shaktiraj, Salomi Limbu, Sharmila Tamang, and Sushmita Kundargayak.
