Student arrested on suspicion of abducting NSU leader

Police on Friday detained a student on the suspicion of abducting a Nepal Student Union leader after locals encircled Saljhandi area police office demanding whereabouts of the abductee.

The arrestee is Prakash Neupane, a student at Martyr Narayan Pokharel Mulitple Campus, DSP Mukunda Marasini, chief of Butwal area police office, said.

He said: The investigation is still on and we have thus far arrested a suspect. It is learnt that Neupane is a supporter of ANNFSU.

It is the student wing of the main opposition CPN-UML

The abduction comes at a time when Free Student Union elections are around the corner.

A motorcycle-borne group had abducted Sonu Chaudhary, joint secretary at NSU’s Ramapur Multiple Campus based in Sainamaina, thrashed him and left him on the road on Friday.
