Kathmandu, March 3
Nepali Congress central committee member Sujata Koirala says she is no longer in the race to become the party’s president. Sujata, who is also the daughter of Congress leader GP Koirala, reached a three-point agreement with Ramchandra Poudel to withdraw her candidacy.
According to sources, Poudel has agreed to nominate Koirala as the party’s vice-president if he wins the presidency. Similarly, if Poudel has promised Koirala that she will lead the party in any coalition government Congress joins in the future. Poudel has also agreed to nominate five central committee members on Koirala’s recommendation, if he becomes president.
