Kathmandu, September 2
Tara Air has announced that it will resume regular flights on the Pokhara–Jomsom route starting Tuesday, September 3, after a suspension due to adverse weather conditions.
The decision to restart flights comes as the tourist season approaches and weather conditions improve. Tara Air plans to station an aircraft overnight in Pokhara to ensure daily operations, with up to five flights scheduled each day, depending on weather conditions. These flights will be conducted from Pokhara’s old airport.
Jomsom Airport in Mustang, located at an altitude of 2,736 meters with a runway length of 739 meters, serves as a key gateway for travellers visiting the region.
In preparation for the upcoming tourist season, Tara Air has also released its schedule for regular flights on the Ramechhap–Lukla–Ramechhap route, starting September 20. This route is particularly popular among tourists heading to the Everest region. During the tourist season, various airlines, including Tara Air, operate flights from Ramechhap’s Manthali Airport to Lukla in Solukhumbu.
For this season, Tara Air will use two Twin Otter aircraft to operate between 10 and 15 daily flights from Manthali to Lukla. Due to increased air traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport, airlines have shifted many of their Lukla-bound flights to Manthali.
Tara Air has scheduled regular flights from Manthali Airport to Lukla until December 15, with both aircraft staying overnight at the airport. In addition to the Lukla route, Tara Air continues to operate flights from Kathmandu to Lukla, Phaplu, and from Pokhara to Jomsom. The airline also serves remote destinations from Nepalgunj, including Rara, Humla, Bajura, Jumla, and Dolpa.
