Locals of Tingla village in Solukhumbu district, who had boycotted local, provincial and federal elections last year demanding that the local unit they belong to be changed, have finally got the result.
The government has recently decided to shift the village to Solu Dudhkunda Municipality from Necha Salyan Rural Municipality as the locals had demanded.
Earlier, the Necha Salyan Rural Municipality had endorsed the locals’ demand and requested the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development to let them get annexed to the Solu Dudhkunda Municipality. The Solu Dudhkunda Municipality had also decided to accept Tingla as a new ward.
Recognising botht the decisions, the Cabinet on Thursday decided to annex Tingla to Solu Dudhkunda. Sobhit Basnet, who led the no vote movement, says they have been informally informed about the decision, and are awaiting the formal decision now.
