A wild elephant attacked and killed an Indian tourist to death at Sauraha, Chitwan district, on Tuesday.
The deceased is Sneha Kanpara (22) of Marbad, Gujarat. Kanpara had come to Nepal with her parents.
Dipak Thapa, Chitwan district police chief, told Onlinekhabar the tusker attacked the tourist while she was visiting the elephant breeding centre in Sauraha. Injured in the attack, she was declared dead on arrival at Chitwan medical college.
Thapa said police are yet to get the details. We are investigating as to how they — the three — reached such an unsafe location, he said.
