With 26 new cases confirmed on Wednesday, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the country has reached 243 as of Wednesday evening.

Late in the evening, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed 24 new cases. The ministry’s joint spokesperson Sameer Kumar Adhikari says 12 people in Rupandehi, eight in Kapilvastu, three in Parsa, and one in Nawalparasi have tested positive for the virus.

Of them, nine patients of Rupandehi belong to the same family. They are said to have returned home from Mumbai just around one week ago, defying lockdown restrictions.

Four of the infected persons in Kapilvastu are security personnel.

Earlier in the afternoon, two persons–one each in Banke and Kapilvastu–had tested positive for the virus.
