Kathmandu, December 3
A woman and her infant daughter have been found dead in Nayapati, Gokarneshwar municipality, in Kathmandu on Thursday.
DSP Navin Karki from Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha, tells Onlinekhabar that the 27-year-old Pemba Sherpa, originally from Jugal rural municipality in Sindupalchok, was found dead along with her one-month-old daughter in their home.
Sherpa’s 32-year-old husband, Dorje Sherpa, was found in an unconscious state, says Karki. Dorje has been taken to Nepal Medical College for treatment.
The locals informed the police after they realised the Sherpa family, who owns a grocery shop, did not open their shop in the morning.
“They slept with a heater on in a room which did not have a proper ventilation,” said Karki. “The doors and windows were all closed. We suspect it was suffocation, but we can’t be certain just yet.”
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for postmortem.
