Kathmandu, December 7
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal says the past decade (2010-2019) recorded 14 helicopter crashes in Nepal, in which 25 people were killed.
Of these 10 years, 2018 was the worst when four crashes occurred, according to the report. Seven people died in these incidents that year.
Two other years–2016 and 2019–also recorded the equal number of deaths although the number of incidents was half.
There were not any such incidents in 2012 and 2017, and incidents in 2011 and 2015 did not kill anyone.
Committees that the government customarily forms after such accidents have reported almost similar factors leading to the accident: difficult terrain, sudden weather change, and human error. Meanwhile, stakeholders claim suggestions of such commissions are generally could not materialise.
