Kathmandu, May 19
The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre says it recorded three earthquakes in Bhulbhule of Lamjung, some 200 kilometres west of Kathmandu, on Wednesday morning.
The first earthquake of local magnitude 5.8 was recorded at 5:42. Likewise, the second and third quakes, measuring 4.0 and 5.3 on the Richter scale respectively, occurred at 8:16 and 8:26 respectively, according to the centre.
The first and the third earthquakes were felt in Kathmandu also.
Arjun Gurung, the chairman of the Marsyangdi rural municipality, where lies the epicentre, says some old houses collapsed and some others cracked due to the quakes.
Human casualty has not been reported so far, according to Gurung. Meanwhile, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti has reported that four persons sustained injuries when their houses collapsed.
