5 police officers rewarded for heroic rescue efforts following aircraft crash

Kathmandu, July 26

Five police officers who played a crucial role in the search and rescue operation immediately following the Saurya Airlines plane crash have been officially rewarded for their bravery and commitment to duty.

The Police Headquarters in Naxal awarded the officers for their “extraordinary bravery and dedication to duty” in rescuing the injured pilot, Manish Ratna Shakya, and others from the “extremely hazardous crash site” after the plane crash on Wednesday.

The rewarded officers are DSP Sukhdev Khanal, DSP Tek Bahadur Rawat, and police personnel Shriram Pariyar, Karan Singh Chaisir, Bhim Prasad Gautam, and Krishna Joshi. Central Police Spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki informed OnlineKhabar that they were given cash rewards, which will be noted in their service records.

The Saurya Airlines plane crashed shortly after taking off from Tribhuvan International Airport en route to Pokhara. Out of the 19 people on board, 18 lost their lives in the tragic accident. Pilot Shakya is currently undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital in Sinamangal.
