Lamjung, March 21
Six people died when a truck fell into the Marsyangdi river in Khotro of Nason rural municipality of Manang, on the Besisahar-Chame road.
The incident involving the truck (Dha 1 Kha592) took place on Saturday, according to the District Police Office in neighbouring Lamjung.
The deceased have been identified as Manisha Gurung, 35, Jalkashi Gurung, 36, and seven-year-old Liun Gurung of Nason rural municipality-4, police inspector Om Prakash Pun says. They died on the spot.
Likewise, Dhanman BK, 28, of Chame rural municipality-4, and Laxman Nepali, 21, of Marsyangdi rural municipality-5, died during treatment at District hospital, Lamjung on Saturday night. Further, among three persons sent to Chitwan for treatment, three-year-old Thiyon Gurung died.
Seriously injured truck driver Suman Tamang, 24, of Bhanu municipality-3, Tanahu and seven-year-old Mel Gurung of Nason rural municipality-3 are undergoing treatment in Chitwan.
Eight persons were travelling in the truck.
