A total of 800 people have obtained employment opportunities in the industry and enterprises operational in the Nepalgunj industrial corridor. They got employment opportunities in 34 industries operating in the industrial sector.
Chief engineer at the Industrial Area Management Office Prakash KC said 95 per cent of the job seekers are men. Although there is a fall in production volume compared to the past, all the industries here are in operation.
More than 1,000 people were employed in these industries in the past. Most of the workers in the industrial sector are Indian citizens. Central member of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions Purna KC said they have been putting pressure on the industries to give priority to Nepalis in employment.
The industrial corridor was established in 233 ropanis of land in 2030 BS. Copper, brass, bronze, aluminium utensils, food items, electrical materials, plywood, doors, transformers and plastic utensils are being produced in the full-capacity industrial area, it was shared. Bheri Technical School which was established to produce skilled technical human resources in the industrial area is also in operation.
