Nepalgunj, October 10
The prohibitory order, which had been enforced in Nepalgunj over the past week, was lifted on Tuesday.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Topendra Bahadur KC, the district administration decided to remove the prohibitory order bearing in mind the improvement of the situation in the city.
On October 3, the District Administration Office in Banke, Nepal, issued a curfew order in Nepalgunj due to the emergence of social unrest in the town. Fearing the potential for communal violence, the city found it necessary to implement the curfew.
The daytime curfew was relaxed on October 5 after the situation showed signs of improvement. However, the nighttime curfew remained in effect.
Meanwhile, the police in Banke have devised a special security plan for the Dashain and Tihar festivals. DSP Narayan Dangi said that passenger assistance desks have been set up at the bus parks in Kohalpur and Nepalgunj.
Likewise, a similar facility has been established at the Jamunah checkpoint to facilitate the convenience of Nepalis returning home from India for the festivals.
Police surveillance has been significantly heightened in and around the bus park areas, extending up to the adjacent railway stations in India. This involves the deployment of undercover police personnel to thwart any fraudulent attempts targeting passengers. Additionally, there has been an escalation in surveillance efforts in Narainapur, which shares a border with India.
