Police attacked in Capital while trying to arrest robbers

Kathmandu, January 7

Sub-inspector Gopal Thapa was injured when a police team came under attack while trying to nab robbers at Gongabu, Kathmandu, on Thursday.

The team got attacked from kin of Dil Bahadur Pun, Umesh Tamang and Santosh Bayalkoti, who had looted one kg of gold from the New Laxmi Jewellery Shop in New Road about a week ago.

In retaliation, police fired one round, Sarbendra Khanal, SSP at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, told Onlinekhabar. Amrit Bayalkoti was injured in the police action, Khanal said. He has suffered thigh injuries and is under treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Amrit, according to police, is a member of the Dil Bahadur Pun gang.
