Kathmandu, February 5
Election for representatives, who will take part in the Nepali Congress’ 13th general convention, is taking place today. Leaders from the establishment (Sushil Koirala faction) and the Sher Bahadur Deuba factions are mobilising throughout the country to influence the poll in their favour.
The regional convention will also elect district working committee members. District conventions will take place on February 8.
Each electoral constituency will select 12 GC representatives. Except for serving office-bearers and central working committee members, other NC members will have to get elected as GC representatives for contesting in the GC for central leadership positions.

Meanwhile, the regional conventions will not take place in eight Tarai districts, namely Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa.
Ananda Prasad Dhungana, chief of the party’s organisation department, who is currently in Janakpur, said the party is yet to hold village conventions in some places of the district.
