Kapilvastu, February 12
The murder of Nepali Congress cadre Rajesh Sen in Pipara Chok, Kapilvastu district, sparked a protest in the district on Friday, causing closure of educational institutions in parts of the district and bringing vehicular movement to a halt.
Nepal Tarun Dal and Nepal Student Union have launched a protest against Thursday’s killing, demanded identification of the two motorcycle-borne people involved in the fatal shooting of the 37-year-old from Bangangamunicipality-1 in the district and action against them.
Educational institutions based in district headquarters Taulihawa, Banganga, Gajehada and Odari have closed in the wake of the protest. Vehicular movement has come to a halt along the Taulihawa-Jitpur road section. The incident site is tense, while markets have remained shut at Gajehada.
The two motorcycle-borne people had fired at Sen at 7.30 pm on Thursday, while he was with a group of NC cadres. He breathed his last at Butwal-based Lumbini zonal hospital the same night. Police are yet to identify the shooters.
