Kathmandu, February 15
The KP Oli government has purchased 80 MW electricity from India by reaching an agreement with the Power Trading Company. India will supply the power, costing Rs 5.5/unit, through the Muzffarpur-Dhalkebar transmission line from Tuesday.
This will provide some relief to the people, who have been reeling under daily load-shedding that lasts up to 15 hours.
Mukesh Raj Kafle, managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, said it’s too early to say how much impact will this power import will have vis-a-vis load-shedding.
Nonetheless, Energy Secretary Suman Prasad Sharma said the government step will provide some respite from the power crisis.
