Kathmandu, April 5
UCPN-Maoist President Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed the need for continued unity among all political parties to maintain national unity and address problems facing the country.
Prachanda was speaking at a programme at party headquarters in Paris Danda on Tuesday.
We have been waging political and ideological revolutions, he said, adding that the party has been leading efforts to deal with challenges facing the country. National unity is a must for tackling these challenges, he said.
Nepali people have given us the responsibility of safeguarding the country’s interests, he said, stressing the need to strengthen the party to shoulder this responsibility. He said the UCPN-Maoist had taken the lead for the protection of downtrodden people’s rights by incorporating those rights into the new constitution.
On the occasion, Prachanda expressed sadness over the failure to take the new pro-people revolution to a logical end as planned. Nonetheless, the capitalist, pro-people revolution has come to a logical conclusion, albeit differently, he said, adding that the Maoist party had taken initiatives for the same. Because of this achievement, certain sections have been levelling different charges against the Maoist party, he said.
“It has been proved that those charges are unfounded,” Prachanda concluded.
