Kathmandu, April 22
Federal Alliance (a group of 27 Madhesh-based and pro-Janjati parties) has announced fresh protests to press the government to address its demands related to the new constitution.
The alliance, in a statement, has said that the fresh round of protests will begin on April 27, and conclude on May 14.
As part of the protest, alliance members will submit a petition to the government the District Administration Offices on April 27, organise and nation-wide rallies on May Day. Similarly, from May 3 to May 13, the alliance will organise protest meets around the country. On the final day of the first phase of protest, the alliance has said it will picket Singha Durbar, the country’s administrative hub.
Forum Nepal’s Upendra Yadav, TMLP’s Mahanta Thakur, Sadbhawana’s Rajendra Mahato, TMSP’s Mahendra Raya Yadav, NMSP’s Sarat Singh Bhandari, Indigenous People’s Movement’s Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Sanghiya Limbuwan’s Kumar Lingden, Nepa Rastriya Party’s Bijaya Sainju, and Tharuwan Samyukta Samiti’s Harilal Chaudhary are among the leaders who have signed the statement.
Updendra Yadav said that the alliance will announce the next round of protests depending on how the government reacts to the first phase of demonstrations.
