Kathmandu, April 30
Police on Friday arrested two student leaders, who were among a group of four, who had smeared soot on the face of Kathmandu district education officer Shankar Bahadur Gautam, at his office on Wednesday.
Police made the arrest from Jorpati, Kathmandu, identifying the arrestees as Prakash Adhikari and Bikas Adhikari, student leaders from Biplav’s Maoist party. Prakash is the Kathmandu district coordinator of ANNISU-R.
They are in the custody of Metropolitan Police Circle, Swayambhu, on the charge of committing public offence. ANNISU-R has threatened to launch a movement from Monday if police do not release the two leaders by Monday.
