Kathmandu, October 16

This year’s monsoon season, which lasted a bit longer than earlier, has almost ended.

Monsoon has ‘left’ Western and Central Nepal already. Eastern Nepal will bid monsoon goodbye in a day or two, weather expert Shanti Kandel informed.

This year, monsoon started from June 15 and remained active a bit longer than usual, according to Kandel. Normal date for monsoon is between June 10 and September 23, Kandel told Onlinekhabar, adding: This year, though, monsoon remained active from June 15 till October 12.

During the post-monsoon season, weather is generally clear, though westerlies and other disturbances in the Bay of Bengal can bring rain occasionally, weather experts say.

With departure of monsoon for this year, temperatures are going down in the Kathmandu Valley and in highlands.
