Chitra Bahadur KC, chair of Rastriya Janamorcha, has urged major political parties to explain why they appointed Lokman Singh Karki as Chief Commissioner for CIAA in the first place and are gunning for his removal through an impeachment motion now.
KC said: During the royal rule, this person had brutally suppressed the people’s movement and misused the state coffers in the capacity of Chief Secretary.
What forced major political parties to appoint Lokman Singh Karki as CIAA chief? If these parties really represent the people, they should come to the rostrum and explain the reasons behind the move.
He asked: Why did the parties appoint this person (Karki) as CIAA chief in the first place? What forced them to appoint him? If you (lawmakers from the parties) really are people’s representatives, you should come to the rostrum and explain the reasons behind the move.
KC further said: My own party, civil society and students had launched a movement to prevent Lokman Singh Karki’s appointment in a constitutional position. However, succumbing to external pressure, parties had him take the oath of office in haste. In fact, these parties were doing external forces’ bidding. They should now come to the rostrum and dare say that external forces compelled them to appoint Lokman as CIAA chief.

The Janamorcha leader said Lokman should face legal action because he is corrupt.
He remarked that political parties won’t be able to do anything if they cannot take action against a corrupt employee.
