kawasoti-chakkajamKawasoti, November 24

Students close to the main opposition CPN-UML on Thursday smashed a bus belonging to a marriage procession at Kawasoti of Nawalparasi district, accusing it of defying their transport strike. The students are protesting Constitution amendment and the recent hike in lawmakers’ pay and perks.

The students vented their ire on the bus numbered Na 3 Kha 4138, which was heading for Butwal from Narayangadh, according to police. On Thursday morning, students had enforced an hour-long transport strike at Kawasoti along the East-West Highway.

They are demanding that Nawalpur of Nawalparasi should be made part of Province 4. Madan Giri of the UML-aligned ANNFSU said they will enforce an indefinite transport strike if the government does not heed their demands.
