From today, private hospitals throughout the country will offer 10 per cent reservation to the poor people, destitutes and people with disabilities. These people will get free treatment at these health facilities.
This arrangement is in keeping with a provision that the Ministry of Health introduced recently.

The scheme covers medical counselling, bed charge, nursing charge, diagnostic charge and oxygen charge. It does not cover surgeries, though.

Those seeking free treatment should seek recommendation letters from village development committees, district development committees, municipalities and district public health offices concerned. For beneficiaries from the Kathmandu Valley, Bir Hospital can make recommendations.
