Bhairahawa, December 20
Police searching for the murderers of Durga Tiwari, chair of Youth Association (Rupandehi), have recovered a motorcycle in Kanchhi Bazaar. The spot lies southwest of Khairahani Bazaar, where two motorcycle-borne individuals reportedly shot at Tiwari on Monday and fled the scene. Tiwari died in course of treatment the same day.
Bel Bahadur Pandey, DSP and spokesperson for Rupandehi police, told Onlinekhabar that police found the motorcycle numbered Ba 51 Pa 8073 at Kanchi Bazaar.
A preliminary police investigation has revealed that the attackers fled the scene on the 150-cc bike using inner roads upon finding police patrolling highways.
Pandey said: The biker appears in such a hurry that he left the bike without turning the engine off.
It appears that the criminals fled towards southwest after shooting at Tiwari, Pandey told Onlinekhabar, adding: We are probing the case seriously. We will nab the guilty at the earliest.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a youth on the suspicion of his involvement in the crime, a source said. Police are also interrogating other suspects. A National Investigation Department team has arrived in Rupandehi from Kathmandu to investigate the incident.
Team members are conducting separate investigations in different parts of the district, a police source said.
