The Prachanda-led government has decided to provide to technicians, including engineers, involved in post-quake reconstruction work up to 75 per cent of their salaries as allowance. This is on top of their salaries.
Thursday’s meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to provide up to 50 per cent of salaries as allowance for those working at district headquarters. The technicians working in villages will get up to 75 per cent allowance.
Around 1300 engineers working in quake-affected areas had resigned en masse recently, demanding perks.
