The Narayani is one the biggest rivers in Nepal. Also, known as the Gandaki, it has a catchment area of 46,300 square kilometers, most of it in Nepal. The basin also contains three of the world’s 14 mountains over 8,000
The river’s basin is home to contains three mountains (Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna I) that are taller than 8,00m.
Photojournalist Shreedhar Poudel witnessed the Narayani change into a vision of beauty away on a recent winter day.
Every day during dusk and dawn, in a passing moment which will be missed if one does not stop and admire, the Narayani river transforms itself into a beautiful being.
The water soaks in the sunlight and reflects everything back, it shows whatever vision you want to see in it.
The shadows take over the river, and men and machine moving on a bridge over the river appear to be mere toys of the creator who is playing with a wonder palette of yellow and orange.
The sun then prepares to take a dip in the holy river, and the chill starts to set in on the river.
Then its time to call it a day. The sun disappears into the horizon, promising to come back again, tomorrow.
