Kathmandu, February 21
The main opposition CPN-UML has welcomed the government’s decision to conduct local level elections in May. At the same time, it has again cautioned the government not to increase the number of local levels.
The party has urged the government to introduce laws required for conducting elections, and not to transfer or pomote government employees as such steps can affect election results. Party secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said an informal meeeting of the party standing committee, held at its central office on Tuesday, welcomed the election announcement.
