Nepal’s Supreme Court has ordred the governemnt to furnish details on how it plans to hold civic election in May and meet the constitutional deadline to conduct polls at all levels by January next year.
Responding to a writ filed by Advocate Chandra Kanta Gyawali et al, a division bench of Justices Hari Krishna Karki and Anil Sinha also ordered the government to furnish details to the court about progress made so far, including the fate of the report submitted by the local bodies restructuring commission.
Gyawali had moved the court claiming that the government was not prepared to hold all three elections (civic, provincial and parliamentary) by January 21.
